Let's talk about Cannabinoids
From insomnia to nausea, cannabis can be used as a natural remedy. The main cannabinoids are responsible for the effects associated with the consumption of the plant and among these we mention THC, THCa, CBD, CBN, CBG and CBC. They make up a class of different chemical compounds that stimulate cannabinoid receptors through cells that inhibit the release of neurotransmitters. Except for THC, the other cannabinoids mentioned above do not have psychoactive properties, instead helping to give relief without the classic "High" effect. Specific cannabinoids can only be obtained during particular cycles of the plant and hence the need for the presence of expert growers to guarantee a good percentage of varieties within the club with a high rate of CBD and a low percentage of THC.
So let's analyze the main Cannabinoids:
CBG
Cannabigerol is considered the mother of other cannabinoids, and several enzymes can convert it to THC, CBD or CBC (from their acidic form in the beginning ”-A”).
CBG is not considered psychoactive. Recent studies show that CBG stimulates the birth of new brain cells (Neurogenesis), regenerating old ones. Due to its difficult availability, CBG remains an important research object in the future. CBG has antibacterial and antifungal properties as well as having shown great efficacy in relation to bone growth. CBG is still used as a cure for Glaucoma, inflammatory bowel states (IBD), insomnia, depression and epilepsy.
THC
Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC is the first substance responsible for most of the psychoactive effects associated with cannabis use. THC and many other Cannabinoids can be identified within the Trichomes, of which we will write an in-depth analysis during the next weeks. The effects of THC are felt as soon as THC binds to endocannabinoid receptors. In addition to the psychoactive effects, THC guarantees a large variety of beneficial physical effects. It is used to treat certain ailments, tumors and diseases. In particular:
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
Relieving symptoms related to shaking nightmares and flashbacks.
Asthma, relieving attacks.
Glaucoma, reducing pressure in the eyes.
Tumors, inhibiting the growth of cancer cells.
HIV / AIDS, to treat nausea, lack of appetite and pain, against fatigue, muscle cramp nausea and depression.
Anorexia, increasing appetite.
Epilepsy, suppressing muscle spasms.
Arthritis, as an anti inflammatory.
Alzheimer, slowing the progression of the disease and blocking the enzyme that stimulates the birth of amyloid plaques.
Parkinson, reduction of pain and tremors
Alcohol and Benzodiazepine addictions
THCA
We are talking about the acidic form of THC, which is converted into THC through decarboxylation, therefore it can be identified purely in fresh inflorescences. Since decarboxylation occurs immediately after harvesting, we have some method that guarantees its consumption. For example, we are talking about smoothies of fresh cannabis inflorescences and transdermal THCa patches. Since THCa is not psychoactive, it can be metabolized in larger doses of THC, making it an attractive option for patients. Among the anti-inflammatory properties, especially in relation to the consequences determined by Lupus and Arthritis, THCa stands out as a neuroprotector and antiemetic.
CBD
Cannabidiol or CBD, is another non-psychoactive cannabinoid with a wide range of medical applications. Of the 85 known Cannabinoids, CBD and THC are normally present in higher concentrations and this makes them the most studied and popular Cannabinoids. The therapeutic properties of CBD are high even in small doses, but the Entourage effect (which we will discuss specifically in the next articles) has shown us that in combination with THC we can see an increase in the effectiveness of the effects it properties. The interaction between CBD and THC changes following their ratio. What does it mean? CBD helps moderate some of the negative effects of high THC concentrations found for example in the famous Haze varieties (paranoia and heart rate acceleration) but also to increase the psychoactive potential of it. CBD has proven antipsychotic properties, and precisely for this reason, under the attention of the scientific community as an alternative to today's treatments against schizophrenia, psychosis and anxiety.
Unfortunately, given the illegal status of the plant and the worrying disinformation of a large part of European doctors, it is not easy to find. In addition, in the last two years, we have witnessed a ridiculous speculation by large seed banks which, at absurd prices, introduced CBD oils of dubious therapeutic quality, given the percentages. In Dab We Trust Grows&Extracts invites you to be wary of oils with low percentages of CBD, currently available on the market.
CBN
It is precisely when THC is invested by oxygen and UV rays that CBN is born. CBN is a byproduct of prolonged exposure to the air, and for this reason it is not easily identifiable in high quantities as the inflorescences are usually kept inside boxes or cans to preserve the structure of the Trichomes and related Terpenes. To ensure that your inflorescences produce a good quantity of this cannabinoid, we advise you to expose them in a clean environment with a temperature of 20/25 degrees. Generally we can say that the Indica varieties produce inflorescences with a higher concentration of this THC by-product. CBN is considered the strongest sedative effect of all cannabinoids. Its sedative effects are so strong that CBN percentages of around 1% can already be used for treatment against insomnia. According to recent research, 2.5mg of CBN corresponds to 5-10mg of DIazepam. A correct ratio guarantees a powerful synergy between THC CBD and CBN, all to the advantage of a greater sedative effect. The most common applications of CBN include transdermal patches, topical gels and capsules. Cannabis inflorescences that attest to at least 1% CBN can also be vaporized to benefit from its therapeutic properties, without sacrificing the pleasure of the flavor of our favorite variety.
CBC
Cannabichromene is another non-psychoactive cannabinoid. Its properties have not yet been studied in depth as has happened with its fellow cannabinoids, but we know that it has the same chemical formula and specific gravity as THC and CBD but with a different arrangement of atoms. According to recent studies, CBN has shown ten times more value in treating anxiety and stress. However, as in the case of CBD, synergy with THC increases its benefits. Now that we have an overview of the main Cannabinoids in relation to their therapeutic properties, we can choose the varieties that best suit our needs. What In Dab We Trust proposes to do: give all our members the opportunity to find the variety that guarantees a correct ratio of cannabinoids in relation to individual needs and to overcome the wall of ignorance and indifference towards the immense potential of this plant.
